# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • Ultimate Comfort: A thick, warming soup designed for cold weather.
  • Savory & Rich: Using a ham bone creates an incredible depth of flavor that diced ham alone can't match.
  • Nourishing: Packed with protein and fiber from split peas.
  • Resourceful: The perfect way to use up holiday ham leftovers.
02 -
  • Salt Caution: Ham and ham bones can be quite salty; always taste the soup before adding additional salt at the end.
  • Reheating: The soup will thicken significantly as it sits in the fridge. Add a splash of water or broth when reheating to bring it back to the right consistency.
  • Tenderness is Key: Ensure the split peas are fully softened before you stop simmering to avoid a grainy texture.
